Rockets Battle to 4-3 Victory Over Youngstown State

Youngstown State, OH – Toledo battled to a 4-3 victory over Youngstown State on Friday afternoon. The score was tied at three matches apiece until sophomore Reid Teatsorth clinched the win for the Rockets at No. 6 singles.

"We had a solid team win today," said Head Coach Al Wermer. "Our team was prepared for a close match. I was especially proud of Reid. He works extremely hard every day and deserved that win."

The Penguins jumped ahead by winning the doubles point.

Senior Stjepan Sisko defeated YSU's Mitch Maroscher in three sets at first singles, while sophomores Luka Vitosevic and Serjen Olmedo posted straight-set defeats over their competition at the No. 4 and No. 5 spots, respectively.

YSU knotted the score, 3-3, with victories at second and third singles. The last match in play was between Teatsorth and YSU's Luke Purser at No. 6 singles. Teatsorth downed Purser, 6-4, in the opening set but fell, 1-6, in Set 2. Teatsorth powered through a tough third-set tiebreaker, 7-6 (7-1), to win his match and clinch the Toledo victory over the Penguins.
