Columbus, OH – Toledo fell to No. 3 Ohio State, 7-0, on Wednesday afternoon at OSU's Varsity Tennis Center. The Rockets faced three nationally ranked singles players and a nationally ranked doubles team.

"We had some bright spots today and we have a long season ahead of us," said head coach
Al Wermer. "These type of challenges will help build our confidence and our toughness throughout the season."

Sophomore
Vince Anzalone put forth a tough battle at No. 2 singles against No. 34 Herkko Pollanen. Anzalone forced the first set into extra points, 7-6 (7-1), but eventually also fell in Set 2 to end the match.

Freshman Ernie Suksathaporn was downed by Alex Kobelt, 6-1, in the opening set at the No. 6 spot, but battled on to lead Set 2 midway through. Kobelt came away with a 7-5 victory to close out the match.

The Rockets will return to Toledo to host their first three home matches of the season. UT will welcome Dayton to Shadow Valley on Friday, Jan. 20 for a 1:00 p.m. match before taking on Valparaiso on Saturday, Jan. 21 at 2:00 p.m. and Wright State later that evening at 7:00 p.m.
