BOWLING GREEN, OH - Toledo's ride to the finals 2009 Mid-American Conference Women's Tennis Championships was stopped just short as the Rockets fell to the No. 1 Miami RedHawks on Saturday in the semifinals. The RedHawks went undefeated in the regular season and will now head into the finals as the No. 1 seed.

"We got off to a slow start in doubles and it hurt us," said Head Coach Tracy Mauntler. "We battled very well in the singles and started coming back but it was a little too late. I am very proud of our team. Miami is a very good team and they played very tough today."

After dropping the doubles point, the Rockets entered singles play and Jessica Azoulay gave UT its first set win, downing Riekie Honiball 6-2 in the first set of No. 6 singles. Nadia Zoubareva did her best to take the first set of her No. 4 singles match but Megan Martzolf took care of business and won it 7-5.

In No. 2 doubles, Maha Guirguis lost her first set 6-2 but replied resoundingly with a 6-1 win over Anastasia Dracheva.

Despite the valiant effort by the Rockets, Miami grabbed four singles wins and the victory by a score of 5-0.

Martina Wodzinski was named to the All-Tournament Team for her efforts in Bowling Green.

Toledo finishes the season with a 14-10 record.
