Senior QB Aaron Opelt, senior WR Robin Bailey, senior LB Darius Quinn and junior DE Alex Johnson served as today's captain.
Today's attendance was 71,727, marking it the largest home crowd in UT and MAC history. The game was played at Cleveland Browns' Stadium but Toledo was designated as the home team. The previous MAC record was 69,029 when Temple hosted Penn State at Lincoln Financial Field in 2007. the OSU game was the seventh-largest crowd that UT had played in front of, home or away. The largest number is 107,267 at Michigan on Oct. 11, 2008. UT's largest crowd at the Glass Bowl was 36,852 vs. Navy in 2001.
With today's loss, Toledo is now 5-14 all time against the Big Ten Conference, including 0-2 vs. Ohio State (49-0 on Sept. 12, 1998).
The Rockets were blanked for the first time since a 31-0 loss vs. Ball State on Oct. 4, 2007, and just the second time since UT lost to the Buckeyes, 49-0, in Columbus in 1998
Senior QB Aaron Opelt completed 22-of-45 passes for 197 yards and no touchdowns. Opelt entered today's contest ranked No. 1 in the nation in total offense (437.0 ypg) and fourth in passing yardage (371.0 ypg). With today's performance, he moved into third place in school history in career passing attempts (948).
Sophomore FS Mark Singer was credited with his first interception of the season in the first quarter and second of his collegiate career. Singer's other pick came in the fourth quarter in UT's 13-10 victory over Michigan on Oct. 11, 2008. He finished the game with two tackles.
Freshman WR Eric Page led the Rockets with a game-high six receptions for 54 yards. Through the first three games this season, Page has a squad-best 21 catches for 320 yards.
Sophomore TE Danny Noble tied his career high with five catches for 35 yards. Noble also had five receptions against Colorado last Friday, Sept. 11.
Junior LB Archie Donald paced Toledo with a game-high 16 tackles, including one tackle for loss. Donald has now totaled double-digit stops on seven occasions in his career.
Sophomore CB Andreas Ashwood recorded his first collegiate interception in the third quarter.
Sophomore P Bill Claus punted a career-high 11 times and averaged 37.0 yards per kick, including a game-high 45 yarder. Claus' 11 attempts is tied for the fourth-most in school history for a single game and the most since John Manly also had 11 vs. Syracuse on Sept. 2, 1999.
Senior S Barry Church was credited with 12 stops, including 1.5 tackles for loss. Church has now finished with at least 10 tackles on nine occasions in his collegiate career.
