CHARLESTON, SC – Toledo finished off its Spring Break trip in fine fashion with a 3-2 victory at Charleston Southern on Sunday at CSU Ballpark. With the come-from-behind win, the Rockets improve to 5-8 on the season.

Senior C James Miglin (1-for-3, 2 RBI) delivered a two-run single in the top of the ninth inning against CSU’s Austin Weekley (2-1) to salvage the final contest in this weekend’s three-game series.

Miglin’s clutch one-out hit came after the Buccaneers (12-5) broke a 1-1 tie in the eighth to recapture the lead. The Midnight Blue & Gold totaled four hits against a pair of CSU hurlers in their final at-bat to stun the home team.

In the bottom of the ninth frame with a runner on second base, UT junior 2B Nate Langhals’ diving stop on a would-be single in the hole denied Charleston Southern the opportunity to at least force extra innings with the tying run.

Senior RHP Adam Tyson (1-0) was credited with the win in relief, allowing only one hit with one strikeout in 1.2 innings of work.

Sophomore SS Deion Tansel (2-for-4, RS) paced the victors offensively with two hits, tallying his squad-best ninth multi-hit effort on the young season.

CSU 1B Chase Shelton (2-for-3, 1 RS, 2 RBI) accounted both of his team’s runs with a solo home run in the third frame and a RBI double in the eighth.

The Rockets knotted the score at 1-1 on a run-scoring two-base hit off the bat of junior 3B Dan Zachowski (1-for-4, RS, RBI) in the fourth, setting the stages for UT’s late-game heroics.

UT will now return to the north and play a three-game series at Xavier on Friday-Sunday, March 14-16 at Hayden Field. - Your Source for Rocket Sports
