Junior RHP Jared Locke (2-3) recorded his second straight quality start and was credited with the triumph. Locke allowed one run on six hits with three punchouts in 5.2 innings.
UT also received outstanding relief efforts from freshman RHP Alec Schmenk, sophomore LHP Ryan Wilkinson and freshman RHP Andrew Marra to preserve today's win. The Rockets' trio did not allow a single baserunner over the final 3.1 frames.
Offensively, sophomore C James Miglin (2-for-3, RS, RBI), freshman SS Dan Zuchowski (2-for-4, RBI) and senior CF Ben Hammer (2-for-5, RBI) paced the Midnight Blue & Gold with multi-hit efforts. Miglin finished the three-game series with a team-high five hits, while Hammer was close behind with four.
Toledo broke the non-league contest open in the third inning on the strength of run-scoring hits from Hammer and Miglin.
Locke kept the Musketeers (6-12) off the scoreboard until the sixth frame when Joey Noble was credited with a sacrifice fly.
The score remained the same until the eighth inning when Zuchowski ripped a RBI double to right field to make the final difference 3-1.
XU's Tyler Koors (1-2) was tagged with the loss, surrendering two runs on six hits with four strikeouts.
Vinny Nittoli and Tres Eberhardt led the home team with two hits each.
The Rockets will return to action on Wednesday, March 21 when they open their home schedule against Oakland at Scott Park. The first pitch against the Golden Grizzlies is slated for 3:05 p.m.
