Toledo, OH - The Toledo men's tennis team voted on its rewards for the 2011-12 season and the results are in. Five awards were handed out to four players, with each voted on by their teammates.
Awards were given out for Team Leadership, Most Valuable Player, Top Newcomer, Seventh Man and Most Improved. The recipients are as follows:
Most Valuable Player Award: Tomas Stillman, freshman
Team Leadership Award: Leo Sarria, senior
Top Newcomer Award: Tomas Stillman, freshman
Seventh-Man Award: Ben Brocker, sophomore
Most Improved Player Award: Terence Weigand, junior
"I think us coaches could have predicted this voting," said head coach Al Wermer. "We had a very good year and everybody accomplished a lot individually and we also met some of our team goals. Our doubles was kind of a thorn in our side and that, along with our inexperience, may have held us back a bit when we moved outdoors and in conference matches. Everybody's grown a lot through our challenges. Leo did a great job of showing the guys "The Rocket Way," and the sky is the limit for our future."
