Stjepan Sisko and Mark Singnil Earn MAC Postseason Honors
TOLEDO, OH - Freshman Stjepan Sisko and junior Mark Singnil each earned Mid-American Conference postseason honors, as the league office announced the 2014 All-MAC First and Second Teams and specialty awards on Tuesday evening.
Sisko was named All-MAC First Team and also earned MAC Newcomer of the Year, while Singnil took home second team All-MAC honors in his first year with the Rockets.
"Both these guys have come a long way since they arrived at campus in the fall, just like all our guys,” head coach Al Wermer said. “Mark had huge wins as his confidence grew. Stjepan never had a problem with confidence, but his mental game benefitted a ton from our schedule and training."
In his first year of competition, Sisko went 15-8 overall in singles play, including a 4-0 record in MAC matches. He also compiled a 13-8 record in doubles (2-1 MAC) and earned a MAC Singles Player of the Week in the last week of competition and combined with sophomore Garrett Cona for MAC Doubles Team of the Week honors earlier in the season.
Singnil led the team in singles victories, with a 16-7 record while going 2-2 in conference play and was a four-time MAC Singles Player of the Week winner. Singnil went 8-11 in doubles play (1-2 MAC).
