Toledo, OH - Toledo men's tennis player, Tomas Stillman, has been named first-team All-MAC for the 2011-12 season, the Mid-American Conference office announced on Tuesday, May 1. The freshman from Harlingen, TX (Harlingen South High School) competed in the No. 1 singles spot for UT all season, compiling a regular-season record of 12-7. Including fall tournament play, he accumulated an overall record of 18-15.
Stillman also paired with senior Leo Sarria in No. 1 doubles this season, posting a 19-12 record on the season, including a mark of 11-6 in regular-season play.
"Tomas really came a long way since the fall, when he simply showed a good deal of potential," said head coach Al Wermer. "But throughout the dual-match season, he established himself as our top player who was capable of a few things: winning No. 1 singles and doubles matches in routine fashion; improving his handling of all those highly-competitive matches; and, against some of the best players in college tennis, he proved he can push them to the brink! We're glad this keg of dynamite chose Toledo, and he's going to get a lot better. This is award is well-deserved!"
