Akron, OH - The Toledo softball team fell to Bowling Green, 5-0, in their Mid-American Conference tournament matchup on Thursday, May 10 at Firestone Stadium. As it was UT's second loss of the tournament, including an 8-0 loss to Western Michigan in the first round, the team has been eliminated.

With the loss, the Rockets (18-38, 8-12 MAC) close the program's best regular-season outing since 2005, when the team posted an overall record of 26-29. Accumulating 18 wins this season, the performance bests the 16-win total for the past three seasons combined. Toledo's eight conference wins were most since 1997.

With one out in the top of the third inning, Bowling Green's Adrienne Dick hit a solo homerun into left field for a 1-0 advantage. BGSU added two more runs in the top of the fourth for a 3-0 lead. Katie Yoho recorded an RBI-single up the middle to score a run, and three batters later, Erika Stratton hit a sacrifice-fly into deep left field to score Yoho, as she tagged from third.

In the top of the fifth inning, Paige Berger hit an RBI-single that scored Hannah Fulk, who had doubled to lead off the inning, giving the Falcons a 4-0 lead.

Fulk hit a solo homerun to lead off the top of the seventh inning, giving BGSU a 5-0 lead.

Despite exiting the tournament in two games, the future looks good for the continued improvement of the Rocket softball program. The team will return starters in six positions, as well all three pitchers.

With Lindsey Tobias and Brooke Gates earning first-team All-MAC honors this season, it marked the first time since the 1996 season that two Rockets accomplished that feat.
