Jiana Jin is in his 17th season as an assistant track and field coach at the University of Toledo. Prior to 2003-04, Jin primarily worked with the men's program as their jumps and multi-event coach. He was also responsible for coaching one of the all-time best women's jumpers in Mid-American Conference history, UT Hall of Fame inductee Candy Campbell. Campbell is the MAC record holder in the long jump with a leap of 21-1.5 and was a two-time All-American in the event.

In his 16 seasons at Toledo, Jin has established himself as one of the top jump coaches in the country. He has trained 23 Mid-American Conference champions and has guided an impressive nine men over 7-0 in the high jump, including 1999 USA high jump champion Henry Patterson (7-7.75). Jin also coached former Rocket Kevin Grant to the Canadian National Long Jump Championship his senior year (2002) and has three men over the 25-6 barrier to his credit. He was the Chinese national long jump and triple jump champion in 1974 and 1975, and has carried on his successes as an athlete over to his coaching.

In 2004, Jin was part of the Chinese coaching staff at the Olympic Games in Athens, Greece. Jin also served as an assistant coach with the Chinese National Team from 1982-85 and saw one of his athletes place fourth at the 1984 Olympic Games. He also worked as an assistant research professor at the National Research Institute of Sports Science in Beijing, China from 1982-85.

Jin earned his master[apos]s degree in track & field in 1981 from the Beijing University of Physical Education, and a master[apos]s in coaching from Central Michigan in 1990. He is currently a member of the International Track and Field Association.

Jin lives in Sylvania with his son, Shi, a 2004 graduate of the University of Toledo.
