TOLEDO - The University of Toledo announced today that its home football game vs. Boise State will be played on Friday, Sept. 16 at 8:00 p.m. and will be televised on either ESPN or ESPN2.

Boise State could be the highest-ranked school ever to play in the Glass Bowl. The Broncos finished the 2010 season with a 12-1 record and a No. 7 national ranking. The highest-ranked opponent hosted by UT was No. 9 Pittsburgh in 2003. The Rockets won that game, 35-31, behind the heroics of current NFL players Bruce Gradkowski and Lance Moore.

"We're excited to be hosting Boise State at the Glass Bowl in front of a national TV audience," said head coach Tim Beckman. "It's going to be a great experience of our players and fans, and it's great that football fans all around the country will get a chance to see the University of Toledo and our Toledo community on national TV."

The Boise State game is the fourth Toledo game to be slated for national TV next season, with the possibility of at least two more. The other national TV games are Northern Illinois (Nov. 1), Western Michigan (Nov. 8) and Central Michigan (Nov. 18). The Ball State game on Nov. 25 might also be picked up for telecast on ESPNU, and the Ohio State game on Sept. 10 is likely to be carried by the Big Ten Network.

Toledo is coming off an 8-5 season in 2010 (7-1 MAC), including an appearance in the Little Caesars Pizza Bowl vs. FIU. The Rockets return 17 out of 22 starters, nine on offense and eight on defense. Among the returners are junior All-America wide receiver/kick returner Eric Page and four other players who earned All-MAC honors in 2010.
