TOLEDO , OH - Senior running back Adonis Thomas showed mid-season form, gaining 97 yards and scoring two touchdowns on 16 carries to lead the Gold team to a 35-14 victory over the Blue team in the annual Toledo football spring intrasquad scrimmage at the Glass Bowl Friday night.

Junior quarterback Austin Dantin led the Gold, completing 11-of-16 passes for 127 yards in windy conditions, and running for 34 yards on six carries. Redshirt Freshman Dwight Macon came in relief of Dantin, hitting 6-of-9 passes for 107 yards. The top target for the Gold was sophomore Bernard Reedy, who caught eight passes for 143 yards and one score.

The Blue team was led by sophomore Darius Reeves, who rushed for 55 yards on 10 carries. Sophomore QB Terrance Owens completed 8-of-17 passes for 82 yards for the Blue.

Defensive highlights included a pair of sacks by sophomore defensive tackle Elijah Jones and two tackles for loss by sophomore lineman Ben Pike for the Gold.

Thomas, who rushed for 1,098 yards last season, scored on runs of 20 and 14 yards in the first half. Sophomore Bernard Reedy added a third score on 53-yard catch and run from redshirt freshman QB Dwight Macon to give the Golds a 21-7 halftime lead.

The Blue team got on the scoreboard first on an 18-yard TD reception from sophomore Terrance Owens to junior Cordale Scott, a transfer from Illinois.

Sophomore David Fluellen scored a pair of touchdowns for the Gold in the second half, while senior Morgan Williams punched across a one-yard score for the Blue.

The Rockets open the season on Thursday, Sept. 1 vs. New Hampshire at the Glass Bowl.
