Liz Hinkleman enters her second season as the head women's swimming and diving coach at the University of Toledo. In her inaugural season at the helm, she steered the Rockets to a second-place finish at the Mid-American Conference Championships, only the second runner-up finish in program history and a successful follow-up to Toledo's first MAC title in 2010.

The Rockets garnered a great deal of individual accomplishments both in and out of the pool in Hinkleman's first season, including four MAC Women's Swimmer of the Week selections, one All-American (the first swimmer; third Rocket overall in swimming and diving program history) and two swimmers named to the CollegeSwimming.com Mid-Major All-American Team. Eight other team members earned honorable mention on the Mid-Major All-American Team, the second-highest total of all schools in the mid-major category. Five Toledo swimmers were named to the Academic All-MAC team, and another six student-athletes received Academic All-MAC Honorable Mention accolades. Collectively, the 2010-11 UT swimming and diving team earned a 3.455 GPA during the fall semester, the highest term GPA in program history.

A UT swimmer from 2004-2008, Hinkleman was a three-time MAC champion in the 200-meter freestyle relay, setting school and conference records, and helped lead Toledo to a second-place finish at the 2008 MAC Championships, which was the best showing in program history at the time. Hinkleman also served as team captain of the Rockets twice, earning the "Captain's Award" in 2007.

Prior to being named head coach at Toledo, Hinkleman was the assistant swim coach at Lewis University in Chicago in 2008 and served as the coach for a club team at Lewis, the Academy Bullets, before returning to Toledo in January 2009 as the assistant coach for two seasons under former head coach Lars Jorgensen. She helped lead the Rockets to their first-ever MAC swimming title in 2010.

Hinkleman is a native of Munster, Indiana and graduated from the University of Toledo in 2008 with a bachelor's degree in pharmacy administration.
