TOLEDO, OH - The University of Toledo will play Navy in a home-and-home football series beginning in 2013, UT Athletic Director Mike O’Brien announced today. The Rockets will host the Midshipmen on Oct. 19, 2013 and travel to Annapolis, MD on Oct. 17, 2015.

This will be Navy’s third trip to the Glass City. The most recent battle was in 2001, with Toledo holding on to a 21-20 win before a Glass Bowl record crowd of 36,852. The Rockets won their only trip to Navy, 35-14, in 2000, and lead the series, 2-1.

"We are very pleased to add Navy to our football schedule," said O’Brien. "Because of their great tradition, it is a very special game. We drew a great crowd for Navy a few years ago, and I’m sure we will again. We are also looking forward to visiting the Naval Academy in 2015. That will be another great trip for our football program."

The Navy series is the latest addition to a challenging and exciting Rocket non-conference home schedule in upcoming years. This fall the Rockets host Colorado in the Glass Bowl and Ohio State at Cleveland Browns Stadium. Other non-conference opponents coming to Toledo include Arizona (2010), Wyoming (2010), Boise State (2011), Missouri (2014) and Iowa State (2015).
