Five Rockets Awarded 2014 Women’s Outdoor Track & Field Academic All-MAC Honors
TOLEDO, OH – Five Toledo women’s track and field team members were selected to the 2014 Women Outdoor Track and Field Academic All-Mid-American Conference team, the league office announced on Tuesday, July 8. Juniors Mackenzie Chojnacky, Carly Molls and Liz Weiler and sophomores Megan Gaysunas and Alexa Jarrett each earned recognition for their efforts inside and outside of the classroom.
Toledo, Kent State and Miami tied atop the league with five players from each team being selected to the Academic All-MAC squad.
Chojnacky finished second in the 3,000-meter steeplechase at the MAC Championships and qualified for the NCAA championships by running a personal record of 10:07.87. She is a member of the UT cross country team and has a cumulative grade-point-average of 3.674 in exercise science.
Molls tallied three victories in the javelin during the outdoor season at the Cherry Blossom Invite, Hillsdale Gina Relays and the Bowling Green dual meet. She has a cumulative GPA of 3.790 in Nursing.
Weiler placed third in the 3,000-meter steeplechase at the MAC Championships and qualified for the NCAA East Region Preliminaries. She is a member of the UT cross country team and has compiled a cumulative GPA of 3.563 in marketing and professional sales.
Gaysunas placed seventh in the 5,000-meter run at the Raleigh Relays to kick-off her 2014 season then finished runner-up in the 1,500-meter run at the Bowling Green dual meet. She is a member of the UT indoor and outdoor track team and has a GPA of 3.819 in Marketing.
Jarrett placed 12th at the MAC championships in the pole vault and recorded four top 10 finishes, including wins at the Cherry Blossom Invite and the Toledo Invitational. She has posted a 3.810 cumulative GPA in supply chain management and sales.
12 other Rockets were named Honorable Mention Academic All-MAC. Toledo placed 11th overall at the MAC Championships at Saturday May 17th.
