ROUND ROCK, TX - Former Rocket Jared Hoying has been selected to play in the 2014 Triple-A All-Star Game. Hoying is currently a member of the Round Rock Express in the Pacific Coast League. The mid-summer classic will be held on Wednesday, July 16 at Durham Bulls Athletic Park in Durham, NC.

Hoying, who has played in a team-high 78 games for Round Rock this season, will make his first appearance in a mid-season all-star game at any level during his five-year professional career. He is coming off an outstanding June, in which he hit .347 (33-for-95) to raise his season average forty points to .260 (74-for-285). Hoying currently leads active Express players in triples (4), home runs (15, career high), RBI (48) and total bases (144). The Fort Loramie, OH also ranks in the top five on the team in hits (74, 2nd), runs scored (47, 2nd), doubles (17, 2nd) and stolen bases (10, 4th).

The center fielder earned PCL Player of the Week honors for the week ending June 15 after leading the Express to a season-high six-game win streak. For the week, Hoying batted .464 (13-for-28) with two triples, two round trippers, 10 RBI, 10 runs scored and three thefts.

Hoying was selected by the Rangers in the 10th round of the 2010 first-year player out of UT, where he earned second-team All-Mid-American Conference honors as a junior. Hoying hit .289 (70-for-242) with 14 home runs, 53 RBI and 13 thefts to be considered among the conference’s top pro prospects in his final season wearing the Midnight Blue & Gold.
