Rockets Defeat Central Michigan 1-0 On Senior Day
The Rockets (19-32, 9-11 MAC) took both games from the Chippewas (31-17, 9-7 MAC) this weekend, en route to a 3-1 record from in their four games since Friday.
Freshman P Emily Anderson recorded her third win of the weekend, allowing just four hits in her complete game shutout, while also striking out seven batters.
Both teams had chances offensively, as the Rockets left seven runners on base and the Chippewas left 13 on base, and ended two innings with the bases loaded.
Both teams were held scoreless through the first five innings, but the Rockets scored the game's only run in the sixth off an RBI single by junior C Olivia Reeder.
Wright led off the inning with a single to right field, followed by freshman 1B Celeste Fidge and freshman 2B Ashley London each reaching base on a fielder's choice. Reeder stepped to the plate with London on second base and roped a single to left center field which sent London all the way home.
In the seventh inning, the Chippewas put two runners on, but Anderson was able to get out of the jam and secure the win.
Freshman SS Chandler Rice recorded the only multi-hit ame for Toledo, going 2-for-3, while sophomore LF Jessica Lemieux, Wright and Reeder posted the other hits.
The Rockets also were walked seven times in the game.
Toledo will close out its home schedule on Wednesday with a non-league doubleheader at Scott Park against Youngstown State. The first pitch of game one is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
