Rockets To Host Two Home Conference Matches This Weekend
TOLEDO, OH - The Toledo women’s tennis team will host two Mid-American Conference games this weekend, as it welcomes Bowling Green to Shadow Valley Tennis Club Friday and Western Michigan the following day. Both matches are set to begin at 1:00 p.m.
The Rockets have been on a tear lately, as they hold a 10-4 overall record (1-1 MAC) and have won seven of their last eight matches. The Falcons sit at 6-4 on the season (1-1 MAC), while the Broncos have compiled an 11-6 record, losing their only conference match.
Toledo is led by a number of strong performers, including junior Lexy Pitt, who currently holds an eight-match winning streak, with a 12-1 overall record on the season. Senior Chrissy Coffman and sophomore Katelyn Nguyen are tied for second on the team with nine wins.
The Rockets have also been very impressive in doubles play. Nguyen and junior Pia Rygh hold a seven match doubles win streak and a 9-4 overall record. Sophomore Mackenzie Bowman and freshman Lauren Thai have been deadly from the No. 3 doubles spot, as the duo has gone 10-4 on the year.
Last weekend, the Rockets went 1-1 in their first conference play of 2014, defeating Akron 5-2, but falling to Buffalo 4-3.
