TOLEDO, OH – Junior guard Julius “Juice” Brown has received the Lou Henson Award’s national player of the week honors. The award is given each week to the top mid-major player performance in the country.

The 5-foot-10 junior came up big in two Toledo wins last week. Brown opened the week with 20-points, six assists and hit the game-winner at the buzzer to beat Buffalo. Three days later, he registered a season-high 25 points in an impressive road win at Akron.

Brown is leading the Mid-American Conference this season with 6.8 assists per game and a 2.7 assist/turnover ratio and ranks ninth with 14.1 points per game.

Toledo will host a pair of home games this week against Northern Illinois at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 22 and Kent State at 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 26.

The Lou Henson Award is presented annually to the top Mid-Major player in Division I college basketball.

The award is named in honor of Lou Henson who retired after a spectacular coaching career that lasted 41 years. When he left the game in 2005 he was sixth all-time in career Division I wins with 779. He is the winningest coach at both Illinois and New Mexico State. He is one of only 12 coaches in the history of the game to take two schools to the Final Four.
