MORAGA, CA - Toledo (2-2) heads to "The Golden State" this weekend to participate in the SMC Hilton Concord Thanksgiving Classic on Friday-Saturday, Nov. 29-30. The Rockets will face Cal State Fullerton (1-3) in the opening round on Friday at Noon (PT) in the McKeon Pavilion (3,500). The following afternoon, UT will tangle with host Saint Mary’s (CA) (5-0) at approximately 2:30 p.m. (PT).

UT has accumulated a 49-44 (.527) all-time ledger in tournament action, including an impressive 15-2 (.882) mark under sixth-year head coach Tricia Cullop.

The Midnight Blue & Gold is coming off an impressive 96-81 victory at UMKC last Wednesday, Nov. 20 in the Swinney Recreation Center.

Junior Inma Zanoguera and sophomore Ana Capotosto paced six Rockets in double figures with a game-high 21 points each. Capotosto’s effort was a career high, while Zanoguera topped at least 20 points for a second time in 2013-14.

Joining Zanoguera and Capotosto in double digits were senior Andola Dortch (15 pts.), senior Brianna Jones (10 pts.), senior Janelle Reed-Lewis (10 pts.) and freshman Sophie Reecher (10 pts). UT’s point production was its highest since it put up 105 points vs. Ohio on Feb. 3, 2003.

Toledo produced season-best efforts from the field (50.8 percent, 33-of-65), from beyond the arc (38.9 percent, 7-of-18) and the charity stripe (85.2 percent, 23-of-27) to bounce back from a two-point setback against nationally ranked Purdue on Sunday, Nov 17.

UT, which is 1-0 away from home this season, is fueled offensively by the group of Zanoguera, Dortch, Jones, Capotosto, Reed-Lewis and freshman Janice Monakana, who are averaging 16.8, 13.8, 11.0, 10.5, 10.3 and 10.0 ppg, respectively.

Cal State Fullerton enters Friday’s neutral-site contest on the heels of an 80-54 win at Columbia on Friday, Nov. 22. Chante Miles finished with a game-high 21 points and six helpers to help the Titans record their first win of the season.

CSUF features an attack with three players averaging at least 8.5 points per game led by Miles’ 17.3 ppg, 4.0 apg and 2.5 rpg.

The Titans are coming off an 11-22 overall mark in 2012-13, including 5-13 in the Big West Conference to finish eighth. Cal State Fullerton returns all five starters for first-year head coach Daron Park and has been picked seventh in the BWC preseason poll.

UT and CSUF will meet for the first time. Toledo is 1-2 (.333) all-time against teams from the BWC (1-1 vs. Hawai’i, 0-1 vs. Long Beach State).

Following this weekend’s holiday tourney, the Rockets will return to the hardwood on Friday-Saturday, Dec. 6-7 when they host the second-annual Toledo Invite. UT will square off against Horizon League member Detroit in the opening game on Friday at 7:00 p.m. Toledo will then battle Horizon League participant Valparaiso in the second round on Saturday at 4:30 p.m.
