Chrissy Coffman Wins 11th Consecutive Singles Match at ITA Regionals
ANN ARBOR, MI - Senior Chrissy Coffman recorded a first-round bye in the ITA Midwest Regional Championships on Thursday, Oct. 10, using the time off to her advantage and recording a second round victory against Jane Fennelly of Notre Dame, 7-5, 6-2, to advance to the third round to face Rebeca Mitrea of DePaul.
Coffman will face Mitrea on Friday morning and will earn a spot in the main draw with a win. She has won her last 11 consecutive matches in singles play.
Junior Pia Rygh and sophomore Katelyn Nguyen both were defeated in their first match of the day, but responded with wins in the second match of the tournament.
Doubles play begins on Friday, Oct. 11 as Nguyen and Coffman form one team, while sophomores Emily Mazzola and Mackenzie Bowman make up the second squad. Doubles play is scheduled to begin at 9:00 a.m.
