Dan Molls Signs With San Diego; T.J. Fatinikun Invited to Chiefs' Mini-Camp
TOLEDO - Former Rocket linebacker Dan Molls has agreed to terms with the San Diego Chargers, while defensive end T.J. Fatinikun has been invited to the Kansas City Chief's mini-camp next month.
Molls, from North Royalton, OH, led the nation with 166 tackles as a senior. He earned first-team All-MAC honors and was named first-team Academic All-America.
"I'm extremely excited to be going to San Diego," said Molls. "The coaches gave me a great feeling. They run a 3-4 scheme which is a good fit for me. It's a great organization and a great city. I'm really looking forward to this opportunity."
Fatinikun, from Perrysburg, OH, earned third-team All-MAC honors in 2010 and 2011, but saw both his junior and senior seasons cut short due to injuries. He said he looks upon his try-out with the Chiefs as a new lease on his football life.
"I have a lot to prove. I have a chip on my shoulder and I'm ready to go," said Fatinikun, who will report to mini-camp on May 9. "I'm so happy that Kansas City is giving me this opportunity. All I want is a chance to come out and compete. I'm excited and ready to get to work."
Molls and Fatinikun are two of a number of Rocket seniors who are hoping to make it in the NFL. Other seniors are likely to be invited to try out.
