USTA Summer Tennis Programs Begin June 10
TOLEDO, Ohio - USTA tennis programs are set to return to the UT Varsity Tennis Courts this summer on the campus of the University of Toledo. Programs for three age groups are available for registration and will run six weeks, beginning on Monday, June 10.
“We absolutely love having the community come to our campus for tennis, whether it’s for watching our Rockets, learning the game in these type of programs or playing with our several USTA summer league teams,” UT men’s head coach Al Wermer said.
The Midwest team tennis for kids entering first through fifth grades will run Monday nights for an hour starting at 5:30 p.m., followed by the Midwest ‘Futures’ for players entering sixth through ninth grade at 6:30 p.m. The cost for each program is $65 and includes racquets, t-shirts and tennis balls. Registration forms can be found at www.midwestteamtennis.com and the deadline to sign up for both programs is May 10.
A third program for adult beginners – new players or players coming back to tennis – will also run Monday nights from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. The $50 registration fee includes USTA membership and t-shirt, while the deadline to sign up is set for June 9 at www.startplayingtennis.com. Loaner racquets will also be available for use.
