Oxford, OH - The Toledo women's tennis team led early on during doubles play, but couldn't close against Miami in a 6-1 loss at the Hepburn Courts Saturday afternoon. The Rockets fall to 7-11 overall and 1-4 in league play with three matches remaining.

UT will close out the regular season with three consecutive home matches, beginning with a 1:00 p.m. contest versus Northern Illinois on Friday, April 12.

"We played great in doubles, but didn't close which was frustrating," UT head coach Tracy Mauntler said. "Miami just outplayed us."

Freshman Mackenzie Bowman and sophomore Pia Rygh got things rolling for Toledo with a victory at No. 2 doubles to start the match, 8-3. The Rockets held early leads in each of the other two matches, but the home team rallied for both wins and the point.

The momentum carried over into singles as Miami (8-12, 4-1 MAC) cruised to its fourth conference win.

UT's top performer Chrissy Coffman came away with the only point at No. 2 singles. The junior earned her 10th win of the season after clinching a 3-6, 6-4, 1-0 (10-7) super-tiebreaker victory to close the match.
