TOLEDO, OH - Sophomore Chris Selfridge (Castledawson, Northern Ireland) concluded his stay in South Africa this week and now will head to Spain to compete in the Spanish Amateur Open Championship on Feb. 27-March 3 at the La Manga Golf Club in Cartagena, Murcia, Spain.

Selfridge will return to competition for the Rockets at the Pinehurst Intercollegiate in Pinehurst, NC on March 10-11.

Selfridge tied for 16th place at this week's South African Stroke Play Championship in Western Cape, South Africa by carding a one-under par 287 (72-69-75-71) at the Oubaai Golf Club. Last week, Selfridge tied for 21st place with a two-under par 286 (71-71-71-73) representing Ireland at the Ten Nations Cup at the Kingswood Golf Estate in George, South Africa.

      The reigning Mid-American Conference Freshman of the Year who captured the Irish Amateur last summer, Selfridge is third in the MAC with a 71.8 stroke average and won his first collegiate title in UT's final event last fall at the Georgetown Intercollegiate.
