YOUNGSTOWN, OH - Toledo (6-3) captured its fourth road win of the season on Friday with a 7-0 triumph over Youngstown State at the Boardman Tennis Center. The weekend opener didn't come easy for the Rockets. Both teams sat through a two hour power outage and UT had to overcome a loss in the first set during four singles matches before leaving victorious.

"We had great team energy in the doubles which transferred well into singles," head coach Al Wermer said. "We're getting a lot better at putting in full team performances with every position contributing."

Senior Francisco Stuardo won at No. 1 singles for the first time in his short career and recorded his third overall win this season. He defeated Silviu Mistreanu in straight sets, 6-4, 7-5.

Sophomore Grant Adams has been solid at the No. 2 spot all season and came away with his fifth win. Adams also paired up with Stuardo for an 8-1 victory at No. 3 doubles.

The Midnight Blue & Gold were tested the rest of the way, but showed resiliency by overcoming opening set losses at the No. 3-6 matches. Sophomore Nicky Wong came out on top at No. 3 with 5-7, 6-4, 6-4 scores. Junior Ben Brocker dropped his first set, 4-6, but battled back with 6-4, 6-2 wins.

Seniors Terence Weigand and Bryant Dudzik closed the day at the final two spots. Weigand came away with a gritty 7-5 win in set two and sealed his third win of the season in the final set, 6-2. Dudzik lost by a point to begin his match, but breezed by his opponent 6-1 and 6-2 for his second win.

Redshirt freshman Ryan Jorgensen teamed up with Wong for a tight 8-7(3) win to clinch the doubles point for UT.

The Rockets will travel to Pittsburgh for a Saturday matchup with Georgetown and Sunday contest versus host Duquesne. Both of those matches will begin at approximately 10:00 a.m.
