Toledo Begins Dual-Play Wednesday Morning at Ohio State
Toledo head coach Tracy Mauntler enters her ninth season at the helm of the women's tennis program and has amassed 101 wins and 73 losses, including a 31-33 record in Mid-American Conference matches.
The Rockets last won their season opener on the road in 2010, winning matches on back-to-back days over IPFW and Purdue in West Lafayette, IN.
All-time, Toledo is 1-10 against the Buckeyes. The teams last met Feb. 16, 2008 in Columbus, a 6-1 Buckeye victory.
Senior Silvia Carvajal and junior Chrissy Coffman bring the most experience heading into the season, while sophomores Lexy Pitt and Pia Rygh proved last year that they can be relied on in the lineup as well.
Three newcomers are on this year's team, including Mackenzie Bowman (Bothell, WA), Emily Mazzola (Chagrin Falls, OH) and Katelyn Nguyen (Anaheim, CA). All three had successful high school careers as four-star recruits and should contribute right away.
Toledo will host its home opener on Friday versus IPFW inside the Shadow Valley Tennis Club at 1:00 p.m.
