YPSILANTI, MI - Toledo cruised to its second conference win of the season with a 56-40 victory over Eastern Michigan on Wednesday night in the Convocation Center. The Rockets opened the game with a 15-2 run in the first seven minutes and never let the Eagles back within 15 points. UT improves its overall record to 14-2 on the season and 2-1 in Mid-American Conference play.

Junior Andola Dortch led the Rockets with 14 points on 3-of-6 shooting from three-point range and a perfect 5-of-5 from the free throw line, putting her over 10 points for the eighth time in 2012-2013. Dortch also added two steals to her MAC-best 2.7 thefts per game.

Seniors Lecretia Smith and Yolanda Richardson chipped in with seven points apiece, while 11 total Rockets contributed at least two points to shoot 19-of-42 (45.2%) as a team. Richardson tallied three blocks for the second-consecutive game, while hauling in a game-high eight rebounds. The Rockets all-time leader in rejections currently sits at 195 during her career.

Toledo snapped a four-consecutive game losing streak to Eastern Michigan, holding the defending MAC Champions to its lowest scoring total of the season on 16-of-48 (33%) shooting. The Eagles' previous low was 43 points against Michigan on Dec. 11, 2012. The Midnight Blue & Gold didn't allow an EMU basket until a Natachia Watkins layup at the 12:57 mark, while holding the home team to 11 first-half points. Watkins led the Eagles with a game-high 16 points while grabbing eight rebounds.

Eastern Michigan missed their first six shots and turned the ball over five times to spark the early UT run. Sophomore Inma Zanoguera opened up the scoring with a layup that was followed by two easy scores by Richardson in the paint for a quick 6-0 lead at the first media timeout.

Senior Riley McCormick came off the bench and nailed the first of her two three-pointers to keep the run going at 11-0. The UT bench outscored EMU in the game by an 18-10 margin.

The Rockets kept the Eagles from reaching double-digit points until EMU's Chelsea Hite made a layup with six seconds left in the half.

EMU scored the first four points of the second half, but UT quickly responded with a back-breaking 14-3 run to put the game out of reach.

The Eagles outscored the Rockets in the second half, 29-26, but the first-half was too much to overcome for EMU. The UT lead swelled to as much as 26 points with just under 13 minutes left in regulation.

Toledo will host MAC-East Division opponent Buffalo (5-11, 3-0 MAC) on Saturday. That contest is slated for a 2:00 p.m. start in Savage Arena.
