TOLEDO - Head Coach Matt Campbell announced today that three recruits from the 2013 signing class have enrolled for the spring semester and will join the squad for winter workouts and spring practice. The three players are Robert Zimmerman, a junior college defensive tackle out of Hutchinson (KS) Community College, Boston Mathews, an offensive lineman from Crystal Lake, IL and Logan Woodside, a quarterback from Frankfort, KY.
"We are very pleased to add these three players to our 2013 recruiting class," said Campbell. "It will be very helpful in their development to join our program this semester and begin training with our team."
Woodside completed 138-of-212 passes for 2,951 yards and a school-record 41 touchdowns as a senior. This past season, Woodside led Franklin County to a 12-1 record, advancing to the third round of the state playoffs, and earned first-team all-state honors from MaxPreps. He also rushed for 428 yards and nine TDs, and added 65.5 tackles, five interceptions and 13 pass breakups on defense. As a junior, Woodside threw for 2,560 yards and 29 touchdowns, as well as rushing for 417 yards and seven TDs. A three-star recruit by Scout.com, Woodside was the quarterback MVP at the Midwest Ultimate 100 Camp.
Zimmerman, 6-3, 340 pounds, originally signed with Texas A&M out of Sumter (SC) High School in 2011 but transferred to Hutchinson. He redshirted during the 2011 season and attended Hutchinson in 2012. Zimmerman will have sophomore eligibility next fall.
Mathews played linebacker and fullback through his junior years in high school, but moved to the offensive line as a senior. A three-star recruit by 24/7 Sports, Mathews missed most of his senior season with an ankle injury.
The remainder of Toledo's 2013 football recruiting class will be announced on national signing day on Feb. 6.
