Rian Pearson Named MAC West Division Player of Week for Third Time This Season
Toledo, OH - Junior guard Rian Pearson has been named Mid-American Conference West Division Player of the Week, the league office announced on Monday. Pearson, who is being honored for the third time this season and sixth occasion in his career, recorded his first double-double of the season and 11th of his career with 24 points and 10 rebounds to propel the Rockets to a 74-55 home victory over Horizon League foe UIC (9-4).
Pearson also tied his career best with a team-high five assists to go along with three steals. Pearson, who has led the Rockets in scoring on six occasions this season, helped the Rockets hold the Flames to an opponent season-low 33.3 field-goal percentage and also register a 48-38 rebounding advantage.
The Raytown, MO native leads the MAC with 19.2 ppg and also appears in the league rankings in minutes played (34.1/3rd), steals (2.0 spg/T-3rd), defensive rebounds (4.5 rpg/5th), rebounds (6.4 rpg/7th), free-throw percentage (74.4%/13th), field-goal percentage (46.1%/15th) and offensive rebounds (1.9 rpg/15th).
Toledo will open its Mid-American Conference season on Wednesday, Jan. 9 at Kent State. Tip-off time is set for 7:00 p.m.
