Junior Dakota Harkins Earns Second-Team All-MAC Honors
TOLEDO, OH - Junior MB Dakota Harkins has earned second-team All-Mid-American Conference honors for the first time in her Rocket career, the league office announced on Thursday.
A Canal Fulton, OH native, Harkins led Toledo with a .296 attack percentage and 1.04 bps to rank fourth and seventh in the league rankings, respectively. Her play helped UT rank fourth in the MAC with 2.07 blocks per set after the Rockets finished 10th last season with 1.74 bps.
"Dakota worked really hard over the past year to become a better blocker and we're very excited that she received this honor," Toledo Head Coach Greg Smith said. "She had a huge impact on our defense and you could see that she had a different presence on the court and become more of a leader for us."
Harkins' two top matches this season came against Eastern Michigan and Ball State. She registered a career-high 13 blocks, 12 kills and a .462 attack percentage against the Eagles and tallied a career-best 16 kills, nine blocks and .483 hitting mark vs. the Cardinals.
