TOLEDO, OH - Sophomore Chris Selfridge is Toledo's Athlete of the Week after winning his first collegiate title at the Georgetown Intercollegiate last Tuesday. He edging out Eastern Michigan's Brian Churchill-Smith (69-69-71=209) by one stroke. Selfridge carded a career-low five-under par 208 (69-70-69) to register his third-straight Top 10 finish and trailed Churchill-Smith by one stroke entering the final round. The reigning MAC Freshman of the Year now has a 71.8 stroke average this season.
Selfridge's play also helped Toledo win its first tournament under first-year Head Coach Jamie Broce. Toledo held a share of the lead following each round and registered an 11-over par 863 (290-285-288) on the par-71, 6,952 yard course to defeat second-place Notre Dame by two strokes. Penn State (871), Xavier (872) and Michigan State (878) rounded out the top five.
Selfridge did most of his damage on the par-five holes and with a tournament-best seven-under on Par 5s and also posted 11 birdies and one eagle during the tournament.
