Rockets Conclude Busy Stretch This Weekend with Wolverine Invitational
TOLEDO, OH - Toledo wraps up a busy three-week stretch this weekend when it travels to Ann Arbor, MI for the Wolverine Invitational. The tournament, which marks the third consecutive weekend the Rockets are in action, will be held on the par-71, 6,112-yard University of Michigan Golf Course on Sept. 22-23 with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start being utilized both days. UT will play 36 holes on Saturday and finish with 18 holes on Sunday.
Senior Allison Schultz led the Rockets for a second-straight tourney last weekend by tying for 25th place at Michigan State's Mary Fossum Invitational. Schultz shot a 13-over par 229 (74-75-80) and is leading UT with a career-best 75.2 stroke average. Joining Schultz in UT's lineup will be junior Kate Hoops (78.3), sophomore Becky Martin (78.0), sophomore Jennifer Elsholz and freshman Sathika Ruenreong (79.8). Freshmen Emily Dixon and Morgan Salm will also compete as individuals.
"Some of our players played on this course this summer and hopefully that will help since it's a very difficult course," Toledo Head Coach Nicole Hollingsworth said. "We have three players (Emily Dixon, Jennifer Elsholz and Morgan Salm) playing for the first time this season, and I'm excited to see how they perform."
The Rockets, which last participated in this event in 2010, will battle 13 other teams in the tournament with two MAC foes - Akron and Eastern Michigan - also taking part. The other teams schedule to compete are Bucknell, Butler, Delaware, Ferris State, Florida International, Georgetown, Grand Valley State, Illinois, North Texas, Xavier and the host Wolverines.
The scoring format for the two-day tournament will consist of each team fielding five players, with the lowest four scores counting for each round.
