TOLEDO - Former Ohio State defensive end Kenny Hayes has transferred to the University of Toledo, UT head coach Matt Campbell announced today. Hayes, a 2011 graduate of Whitmer High School in Toledo, will be eligible to play in 2013. He will have three years of eligibility remaining.
"We are pleased that Kenny has decided to come home and join our football program," said Campbell. "He is very talented young man who can help our team in the future. We look forward to his growth as a player, as a student and as a young man."
Hayes, 6-5, 285 pounds, was an all-state, all-league and all-district player at Whitmer. He had 47 tackles, 11 tackles for loss and seven sacks as senior, earning district "Defensive Player of the Year" honors. He also was an all-city selection in basketball.
