Dan Zuchowski Earns Prospect League Player of the Week
TOLEDO, OH - Sophomore Dan Zuchowski was named the Prospect League Player of the Week, the league office announced on Monday. Zuchowski garnered the league's top weekly honor for the first time this summer.
A member of the Chillicothe Paints, Zuchowski hit a staggering .542 (13-for-24) for the week of July 23-29 with seven runs scored, two doubles, one triple, one home run and six RBI.
Overall this summer, the 2012 Prospect League All-Star is batting .339 (58-for-171) with 12 two-base hits, eight roundtrippers and 41 RBI in 42 games. Zuchowski currently ranks 10th in the league in batting average.
This past spring for the Mid-American Conference West Division champion Rockets, Zuchowski hit .258 (47-for-182) with 28 runs scored, 11 doubles, team-high two triples, four home runs and 26 RBI in 51 games. He finished tied for first on the team in sacrifice bunts (8), tied for second in multi-RBI games (7), third in roundtrippers and walks (22), tied for third in two-base hits, fourth in runs scored, RBI, total bases (74) and slugging percentage (.407) and tied for fourth in hit by pitch (4). The Hamtramck, MI native collected a hit in 34 contests in his first season wearing the Midnight Blue & Gold, including eight multi-hit efforts.
