Top 10 Individual Performances During 2011-12 Season

The Rockets' athletic department enjoyed a tremendous 2011-12 season. Below is a Top 10 listing of individual performances compiled by the UT Athletic Media Relations staff.

Top 10 Individual Performances

No. 1 - Junior Emma Kertesz was named Most Outstanding Performer at the MAC Indoor & Outdoor Track & Field Championships and also earned All-America honors at the NCAA Championships. Kertesz won the 3,000-meter steeplechase at the MAC outdoor, as well as the 5,000-meter run in both indoor and outdoor meets. She also won the mile in the indoor meet in a time of 4:47.96, which broke the school record and MAC championship meet record.

No. 2 - Junior Eric Page earned first-team All-MAC honors at three positions - wide receiver, kick returner and punt returner. He became Toledo's all-time leading receiver this past season and finished with 306 career receptions. He caught a school-record 125 passes in 2011, ranking third in the nation and second in the MAC in receptions per game (9.3). Page caught five touchdown passes vs. NIU, tying the conference record set by Marshall's Randy Moss vs. Ball State in 1997.

No. 3 - Senior Laura Lindsay put an exclamation point on her athletic career by earning All-America honors for the second-straight year at the 2012 NCAA Swimming & Diving Championships. After tying for 15th place in the prelims of the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:00.23, Lindsay won the consolation final in a time of 59.61 to take ninth place overall. The finish was good enough to earn an "A" cut, the first time a UT swimmer accomplished an NCAA "A" cut in school history. As a top-15 finisher, she earned All-American accolades that topped her 12th-place finish at the NCAA meet a year ago.

No. 4 - Sophomore Rachel MacLeod became the second Rocket to be named MAC Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Year. MacLeod totaled a conference-best 31 points on 11 goals and nine assists. She led the league in scores and match-winning goals (6) and was tied for first in helpers. Her point total also ranked second in school history in a single season, while her assist total was tied for third.

No. 5 - Senior Courtney Ingersoll led the nation with a 44.2 (96-of-217) three-point field-goal percentage and also ranked 13th in the country in three-point field goals made (2.8). Ingersoll's 96 treys tied a MAC single-season record and her 44.2 three-point field-goal percentage stands second best in UT annals. She made at least four triples in 12 games this past season, including a collegiate-best six against Cincinnati in the second round of the Postseason WNIT (March 19). Ingersoll also had the opportunity to showcase her long-distance shooting skills on ESPN during the women's three-point competition at the annual Three-Point Championships, held in conjunction with the Men's Basketball 'Final Four'.

No. 6 - Sophomore Rian Pearson led the MAC in scoring (16.4 ppg) and ranked third in rebounding (8.3 rpg) to earn first-team USBWA All-District honors. Pearson also was a second-team All-MAC honoree and was named MAC West Player of the Week three straight weeks.

No. 7 - Senior Piyathida Chaiyapan tied for first place at the MAC Women's Golf Championship for UT's best-ever individual finish at the event. A second-team All-MAC honoree, Chaiyapan's 76.8 season-stroke average was the third-best in school history.

No. 8 - Senior Vicki Traven took over sole possession of first place in MAC Women's Soccer history with 32 career blankings with a 2-0 shutout over Buffalo. Traven finished her career with 34 career shutouts, and the two-time all-league selection ended her career ranked second in the MAC record books in minutes played (6,972:07) and fourth in GAA (0.81).

No. 9 - Senior Joe Corfman became Toledo's all-time hits and doubles leader and was named first-team All-MAC for a second time. Corfman collected 261 hits and 54 doubles in his time at UT and also finished second in runs scored (177) and total bases (375), tied for fifth in RBI (134) and 10th in batting average (.329, 261-for-794).

No. 10 - Freshman Chris Selfridge was named MAC Freshman of the Year and followed it up by winning the Irish Amateur. Selfridge finished the event at five-under par 283 (66-72-70-75). Past winners of the event have included Padraig Harrington, Graeme McDowell, Darren Clarke and Rory McIlroy.

Honorable Mention: Julius Brown named MAC Freshman of Year in men's basketball; Andola Dortch became first Rocket to be named MAC Defensive Player of Year in women's basketball; Natalia Gaitan earned NSCAA Scholar All-America Third-Team accolades in women's soccer; Bernard Reedy captured Military Bowl MVP honors; Allison Schultz won Ohio Women's Amateur in women's golf.
