TOLEDO, OH - Toledo will compete in 11 tournaments in its 2012-13 campaign highlighted by a trip to Hawaii, Head Coach Nicole Hollingsworth announced today. The Rockets also will have the opportunity to visit additional warm locales in Arizona, Florida and Louisiana.
"We are traveling to some great destinations and playing some golf courses for the first time," Hollingsworth said. "I wanted to change our schedule up a little this year and provide the team some different experiences and a chance to see different parts of our country."
UT's fall schedule is headlined by an appearance at the Rainbow Wahine Invitational (Oct. 30-31) in Honolulu. Toledo will open its spring campaign at the LeTriomphe Invitational (Feb. 18-19) in Broussard, LA. The Rockets will then spend spring break in the Grand Canyon State where it will compete in the Red Rock Invitational (Mar. 2-3) in Sedona and the Rio Verde Invitational (Mar. 8-10) in Rio Verde. A week later, UT will visit the Sunshine State to take part in the Ocala Invitational (Mar. 17-19) hosted by Morehead State.
Toledo will also be making return trips to Illinois State's Redbird Invitational (Sept. 8-9), Michigan State's Mary Fossum Invitational (Sept. 15-16), the EKU Colonel Classic (Apr. 5-6) and the Indiana Invitational (Apr. 13-14). The Midnight Blue & Gold's remaining events are Michigan's Wolverine Invitational (Sept. 22-23) and The Preview (Oct. 15-16) in Nashport, OH.
The Rockets return three starters for the 2012-13 campaign and are expected to be led by junior Kate Hoops and senior Allison Schultz, who ranked third and fourth on the team with 79.1 and 80.4 stroke averages, respectively.
