Jim Ray was a three-time basketball letter winner, 1953-56. As a sophomore he helped UT to its first ever Mid-American Conference basketball championship. Was first-team All-MAC and has the highest single season point total (563), the 7th highest career scoring average (17.1 ppg.), and the 12th highest career scoring total (1,444 points). Ray still holds nine records for MAC games only. Jim Ray played one season of professional basketball with Syracuse of the NBA. He entered the education profession as a coach at Toledo Libbey and Toledo Bowsher high schools. He has been as assistant principal in the Toledo Public Schools for the past 10 years.
