BUFFALO, NY - Toledo swimmers scored victories in the first six events, and the Rockets held off Buffalo 159-135 Saturday to end its regular season with an unblemished 7-0 MAC record.

Laura Lindsay set her first NCAA "B" cut in the 200 breaststroke, Claire Leichty won her first event as a collegian, and Louise Smyth picked up a victory in the 200 butterfly to highlight Toledo's efforts.

"Overall, I was very pleased, because Buffalo is a good team and I'm happy to get this road win," Lars Jorgensen, head coach, said. "We're proud to win the regular season title and now we have three weeks to get better for the MAC Championships."

The Rockets took first in the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:43.22, led by Ashley Cusack, Lindsay, Amanda Thompson and Katie White. Leichty (10:13.17) then led a top-three sweep in the 1000 free with Smyth and Caitlin Cormack to help Toledo build a 29-6 advantage.

Harter sparked a top-three finish in the 200 free with her season-best time of 1:50.49, with Laura Heckroth and Jacy Dyer hitting the wall behind her. Cusack followed by out-touching Buffalo's Jessica Ballard in the 100 back, nipping her at the wall by one-hundredth of a second to earn the win.

That opened a 55-18 edge, which grew after Lindsay and Kelsey Atchison took the top-two spots in the 100. Lindsay's time of 1:02.36 was a season-best and a fourth-straight "B" cut in the event.

Smyth concluded the hot start to the meet by taking first in the 200 butterfly in 2:04.84, and with freshman Kenzie Bagan right behind, Toledo's lead swelled to 83-28

Buffalo won the next four events to draw close at 103-82. Lindsay, though, hit the wall in 2:16.13 in the 200 breaststroke for the "B" time, and Atchison was second to make it 117-87. Dyer followed with a win in the 500 free (4:55.16), and with Heckroth taking second and Leichty finishing third, all but sealed the win for Toledo as the Rockets went up 133-90.

Thompson rounded out the meet with a second-place effort in the 100 fly, and Harter recorded her second win of the day in the 200 IM.

Toledo improved to 11-2 overall on the season, matching the mark the team set in 2007-08. The Rockets also completed a perfect MAC regular season that year as well.

"We got a lot of good contributions from the entire team," Jorgensen said. "We still have some areas to work on, but if we could clean those up and work on some little details, then we could have a lot of success at the MAC Championships."

Miami hosts the MAC Championships from Wednesday, Feb. 24 - Saturday, Feb. 27 in Oxford, OH.
