Toledo's Game Notes vs. Detroit Toledo's Game Notes vs. Detroit

TOLEDO, OH - Toledo (2-3) will look to get back to its winning ways on Wednesday, Dec. 5 with a non-conference match-up against winless Detroit. The contest is scheduled for a 7:00 p.m. tip-off in Savage Hall and will televised taped delay on BCSN.

The Rockets are looking to bounce back from their 55-48 loss at Youngstown State this past Thursday. The Midnight Blue and Gold were hindered by 21 turnovers and shot just 32.8 percent (19-of-58) from the field and 36.8 percent (7-of-19) from the charity stripe in the seven-point setback.

Sophomore Allie Clifton paced UT with 15 points and nine rebounds against the Penguins, while senior Tamesha Scotton had her second double-double of the season with 10 points and 10 caroms.

Through the first five games this season, Toledo’s talented duo is averaging 27.8 points and 16.2 boards per contest. They are shooting a combined 51.0 percent (50-of-98) from the field.

Detroit is off a 0-6 start this season with losses to Western Carolina (85-65), Auburn (91-47), Eastern Michigan (65-54), Buffalo (66-50), Northern Iowa (62-35) and most recently Iowa (65-42).

With head coach Mickey Barrett in his fifth season at UDM’s helm, the Titans are averaging 48.8 points per game with senior Joyce Massey leading the club in scoring and steals at 7.3 points and 3.0 thefts per contest, respectively.

The Rockets and the Titans will be meeting for the 22nd time in the overall series. UT holds a 13-8 series advantage, but has lost the last four meetings dating back to the 1999-2000 campaign. Despite its recent shortcomings in the series, UT has dominated the action at Savage Hall, winning seven of the last eight contests played between the schools.

Following tomorrow’s contest, Toledo will travel to Peoria, IL on Saturday, Dec. 8 to battle Bradley. Tip-off against the Braves is slated for 2:00 p.m. (CT) in the Robertson Field House.
