GLASGOW, SCOTLAND - University of Toledo's Natalia Gaitan and Colombia (0-2-0) put forth a gallant effort against the United States (2-0-0) on Saturday in Group G play at Hampden Park. Unfortunately for the Rockets' senior captain and the South America country, which is making its first appearance in the Summer Olympics, it was not enough in a 3-0 setback to a talented USA squad.

Megan Rapinoe opened the scoring in the 33rd minute for the Americans. The play was setup when teammate Alex Morgan intercepted a pass near the Colombia goal box. Morgan passed to Rapinoe, whose curling 20-yard shot sailed over Colombia goalkeeper Sandra Sepulveda's outstretched hand.

USA's Morgan had a goal disallowed in the 41st minute when she was deemed offside, and Rapinoe had a potential second goal cleared off the line by Gaitan in first-half injury time.

The score remained the same until Abby Wambach slid in between two Colombia defenders and got off a well placed shot after a nice feed from Tobin Heath in the 74th minute. Wambach now has six career Olympic goals, moving her ahead of Mia Hamm and Tiffeny Milbrett to become the Americans' all-time leading Olympic scorer.

A little more than three minutes later, Carli Lloyd finished off the scoring in the 77th minute to set the final difference at 3-0.

Gaitan played all 90 minutes on defense for a second straight contest.

Colombia, which is ranked No. 28 in the world and has nine players on U.S. college teams, concludes its Olympic experience vs. France on Tuesday, July 31 at St. James' Park in Newcastle at 12:15 p.m. (ET).
