Toledo, OH - The Toledo swimming and diving team hosts Big 10 foe Ohio State in a dual-meet this Saturday, Jan. 7, at 1 p.m. at the Student Recreation Center.

The Rockets (2-1, 2-0 MAC) are back in the pool of competition after a stellar performance at the Akron Invite the weekend of Dec. 2-4, in which they won 14 of 20 events, while setting 13 new meet records and 11 new pool records in the process.

Rachel Johnson was victorious in the 500 freestyle with a time of 4:50.12 (meet record), 400 IM in 4:20.11 (meet and pool records) and 1650 freestyle in 16:34.24 (meet and pool records).  Carly Harter won the 200 IM with a time of 2:01.40 (meet and pool records), 200 freestyle in 1:47.40 (meet and pool records) and 100 freestyle in 49.76 (meet and pool records). Laura Lindsay placed first in the 100 breaststroke in 1:00.27 (meet and pool records) and the 200 breaststroke in 1:59.03 (meet and pool records). Beth Rogers touched the wall first in the 100 butterfly with a time of 54.25, as well as the 200 butterfly in 1:59.03 (meet and pool records). Rounding out the individual accomplishments at the meet was Christina Noens' first-place finish in the 200 backstroke in 2:00.13 (meet record).

More records were broken in the relay events, as Toledo scored big wins in the 400 medley relay, 800 freestyle relay and 400 freestyle relay.

The 400 medley relay team of Maria Bargardi, Lindsay, McKenzie Bagan and Harter set new meet and pool records, winning in 3:42.75.

The 800 freestyle relay team of Harter, Johnson, Leichty and Rogers set new meet and pool records with a time of 7:26.34.

The 400 freestyle relay team of Harter, Rogers, Bagan and Johnson set new meet and pool records with a time of 3:24.35.

The Buckeyes' last competition was also the weekend of Dec. 2-4, and it resulted as a first-place finish among five teams in their own Ohio State Invite.

"It is a great opportunity to swim against a very good Ohio State program," said head coach Liz Hinkleman. "We are excited to compete against the Buckeyes, and this meet will be another opportunity for us to race and prepare for conference."
