MOUNT PLEASANT, SC - Toledo jumped out an early lead but could not sustain it and dropped a 14-5 decision against the College of Charleston on Tuesday at Patriots Point. With the setback, the Rockets fall to 5-3 on the season.

UT led 5-0 after its first two at-bats, before the Cougars (10-3) scored the game's final 14 runs to claim the non-league victory.
Sophomores Matt Delewski (2-for-4, RS, RBI) and Joe Corfman (2-for-4, RS) paced the Midnight Blue & Gold offense with multi-hit efforts, while senior Tim Krofcheck and junior Jim Vahalik were credited with home runs in the opening inning. As a team, the Rockets finished with seven hits vs. three College of Charleston hurlers.

Junior RHP Matt Kuna (0-1) made his season debut on the hill and was tagged with the loss. The 2009 second-team All-MAC honoree allowed six runs on eight hits with one punchout in 2.1 frames.

The Cougars pounded out 15 hits against five UT throwers, including Jesse Mesa (2-for-4, 3 RS), Matt Leeds (2-for-4, RS, 4 RBI), Rob Kral (2-for-4, 3 RS, RBI) and Kolby Epley (2-for-4, 2 RBI) with two hits each. The home team did a majority of their damage with back-to-back five-run innings in the third and fourth to take control of the contest.

Kevin Decker (1-0) picked the victory in relief, tossing six hitless frames with seven strikeouts.

The Rockets return to action on Thursday, March 11 when they begin play at the Johnny Gill Memorial Tournament hosted by Winthrop. UT is slated to play four games over three days, beginning against the host Eagles at 5:00 p.m.
